Princess Kate is “worrying” her uncle will “bring up things from her past” as Kensington Palace have “no control” over Gary Goldsmith, according to a royal source.
Grant Harrold, former butler to King Charles, has spoken about Kate’s uncle, Goldsmith, appearing on Celebrity Big Brother.
The butler has explained that it is a “concern” for the Royal Family that Goldsmith is on the show without it being approved.
Harrold said: “I don't think they'll be impressed. They're very protective. It's a concern for them that he's in there.
“It's fine if it's a member of the family and it's been approved.”
In his introductory video he said: “I’m Gary Goldsmith, the uncle to the future Queen of our country.”
However, Harrold explains that Kate is not close with her uncle anymore and Goldsmith even admitted himself that his niece was “difficult to get into contact” with.
The former butler said: “But Gary isn't close to Kate anymore and obviously can say what he wants. The Palace has no control.
“When Mike Tindall went into the jungle for I'm a Celeb, there was a degree of control and he was given advice over what to do and what not to do.”
The husband of Zara Tindall appeared in the jungle in 2022 after reportedly asking permission from the Royal Family.
While on I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here, Mike admitted to keeping “conversation short” about the Royal Family so that they would not be broadcast.
The ex-butler told Slingo in an interview: “The royals will be sitting on the edge of their seats with nerves over Gary.
“Kate is known for her privacy and will not be happy with Gary's appearance at all.
“She is so private and I remember that well from my time working with her. She'll be worrying about whether he'll bring up things from her past."
During his appearance on CBB, Goldsmith has been complimentary about his niece Kate.
He said: “She’s beautiful on the outside, but more beautiful on the inside and really is a doting mum…so the way the monarchy is moving, it’s family centric.

Kate’s uncle also said that he would never want to stress the Princess of Wales as she recovers from an abdominal operation.
He said: “I’ve spoken to Carole just to send my love and we talked about Kate given what’s going on.
“There’s lots going on in the family at the moment. So she’s spinning a lot of plates right now, it’s quite stressful. So the last thing I’m going to do is bring any stress to them.”
