Report: Steidten could bring in 51-year-old 3-time league winner to replace Moyes at West Ham

Tim Steidten is said to be a big admirer of a 51-year-old manager, and is eyeing him up as a potential replacement for West Ham United boss David Moyes.

West Ham boss David Moyes still faces an uncertain future at the London Stadium despite back-to-back Premier League wins, and Tim Steidten is believed to be on the hunt for for a replacement for the Scot, with names like Marco Silva and Aren Slot being linked.

The Hammers are actually in a decent position right now. We’re sitting in seventh spot in the Premier League table, just two points adrift of sixth placed Manchester United.

In addition to that, we have a two-legged Europa League last-16 tie with Freiburg to look forward to tonight and next week as well.

However, with Moyes out of contract at the end of the season, and no sign of a new deal being offered right now, the Scot is far from certain to be in the dugout at the London Stadium next term.

And it seems as though Steidten has someone specific in mind to take over from the 60-year-old…

Tim Steidten could replace David Moyes at West Ham with 51-year-old

According to a report from Give Me Sport, Steidten is a big fan of current Lille manager Paulo Fonseca – a man who was linked with the West Ham job last season.

The 51-year-old, a three-time league winner during his time in charge of Shakhtar Donetsk, is well known throughout the game for his tactical astuteness and the free-flowing, attacking football that he likes to implement.

Fonseca deploys a system whereby ball retention is a key component. It’s a possession based system that relies on players who are comfortable with the ball at feet, and he deploys a real kind of tactical fluidity.

The Portuguese likes to set up his side in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with the emphasis on attacking, creative and free-flowing play from his team.

His style is in stark contrast to that of Moyes, and I believe he would be the man we need to take us to another level.

If Tim Steidten is eyeing Fonseca up as a replacement for David Moyes, I think we could be on to something very exciting indeed as a club.
