The body of woman was pulled from the Newark Bay near Stephen R. Gregg Hudson County Park in Bayonne Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.
The Hudson County Sheriff’s Office notified the county Prosecutor’s Office of the lifeless body at 1:30 p.m. that day after it was located close to 48th Street.
The woman, who has not yet been positively identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities did not say how long they believe the body has been in the water.
The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the state’s Regional Medical Examiner’s Office, though no visible signs of trauma were observed, authorities said.
