'Horrendous': Red Bull driver complains about how what he's feeling behind the wheel in Saudi Arabia

Red Bull driver Sergio Perez complained about one ‘horrendous’ thing during practice for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

Perez is gunning for back-to-back victories in Jeddah after beating Max Verstappen at this event last year.

But he made clear to his team that he wasn’t happy about one thing in Friday’s running.

Perez set the fifth-fastest time under the lights in second practice, finishing just under half a second behind pacesetter Fernando Alonso in the Aston Martin.

In the earlier session, he’d placed third, two tenths off teammate Verstappen but once again behind Alonso.

Perez completed a Red Bull one-two at the opening race of the season in Bahrain but was 22 seconds adrift of Verstappen at the chequered flag.

Sergio Perez complains about Red Bull bouncing in Saudi Arabia

Communicating with his team over the radio, Perez said he was suffering with significant bouncing during one particular session of the track.

“The bouncing was horrendous through Turn 10 and 11,” he reported.

The Mexican wasn’t the only driver to face such issues at the street circuit, with Lewis Hamilton urging Mercedes to fix a similar problem during FP1.

Perez feedback will aid Bulls ahead of qualifying

Red Bull technical director Pierre Wache has spoken about the importance of the feedback the team receive from Perez and Verstappen.

And heading into qualifying on Saturday, the bouncing may be one of the areas that they’re looking to address.

Perez will be determined to mount a sterner challenge this weekend and prove to Verstappen, who won 19 out of 22 races last year, that he won’t have it easy in 2024.

The reigning world champion has already predicted that his partner won’t finish higher than fourth in this year’s championship, tipping Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc and Mercedes veteran Hamilton to beat him.
