Desperate mom is on a mission to replace daughter's ‘emotional support' wad of hair

A desperate mother is urgently trying to replace her daughter’s “emotional support” wad of hair as the rest of social media pitches in to help.

Emotional support items are having a moment on social media after initially starting out as a valid mental health tool. Now, people are crowning all sorts of random items as their sole anchor to sanity.

Daughter needs her wad of hair… badly

TikToker Camille Munday (@camille_munday) usually posts general lifestyle content about herself, her three kids, and her husband Sam. Recently, the 28-year-old mum shared an anthology of videos relating to her daughter’s obsession with one of her hair extensions.

Dubbing it the “emotional support wad of hair”, she earlier explained that her daughter needs the extension to keep calm. The concept is not completely unheard of, as kids tend to get attached to a singular item until they grow out of it.

In one recent video, Camille undertook the lengthy process of combing, washing, and drying the wad of hair so it “lasts as long as possible.”

She jumped on Sephora and next day delivered some Keratese, which was priced at $58! She also bought K18, which is priced at around $70. That’s over $100 on hair care for a single extension.

Camille has also tried to replace the wad of hair with various fan suggestions including an American Girl Doll and a Build a Bear. Unfortunately, none of these suggestions have worked.

TikTok weighs in

Though the videos are fairly light-hearted and silly, most of them have racked up millions of views and upwards of 500k likes. Most of the wider TikTok community are fully invested in the story as some suggest other avenues to explore.

One person wrote: “Treat it like a binkie and start trimming it every day till it’s gone.”

“Send the hair extension to a doll maker on Etsy! they can make the hair out of it,” another fan suggested.

Camille has also received a fair amount of criticism over the mini-series. As a lifestyle influencer, her income relies on gaining views and attention, leading some to speculate she’s dragging out the process for views.

One person wrote: “Don’t replace it … just cut it cold turkey and in 3 days she’ll stop asking. Taking it away and giving it back sends the wrong msg. stick to ur word.”

“At this point I don’t think they wanna do cold turkey because it gets views,” someone else said.
