Sunderland players ‘don’t trust’ teammate

Sunderland lost their fifth game on the bounce on Tuesday night with a 1-0 defeat to Leicester at the Stadium of Light.

Many underperformed as Dodds still searches for his first win as interim manager since Michael Beale’s sacking.

One player who just hasn’t got going at the Black Cats is Luis Hemir. Journalist James Copely believes that his teammates might not trust the attack as he still searches for his first goal at the club.

Ross Stewart message

One former Black Cat who now plays for Southampton is Ross Stewart. The Scotsman was instrumental in getting Sunderland back into the Championship before moving to the Saints in the summer.

However, Stewart has barely featured for Southampton and will be out for the season after suffering an injury setback in November.

In the build-up to the game, Dodds issued a message to the former Sunderland man wishing him well on his road to recovery.

Unwanted record could be broken

Sunderland’s recent form has really cost them this season. The club were well in the playoff race at the start of 2024. However, five consecutive defeats have put this really out of sight with the Black Cats 10 points behind.

With a trip to Southampton next up, the club could break an unwanted record if five defeats become six.
