24-year-old Wrexham ace spotted in training as return from injury nears

Wrexham defender Thomas O’Conner is ramping up his return to fitness having been spotted back in training.

Wrexham are back in League Two action this weekend after a welcome midweek off.

The schedule has been relentless of late and Wrexham will be desperate to come up with a win on the road on Saturday.

Morecambe is the destination this weekend with Wrexham looking to pick up points away from home, which hasn’t been easy this season.

Phil Parkinson will be weighing up his team selection for the trip to the Mazuma Stadium and he has been boosted by Thomas O’Connor’s return to training.

O’Connor hasn’t been seen in a Wrexham shirt since the 13th of January.

The Irishman has been nursing a fractured foot for nearly two months now and it’s fair to say that he has been missed.

O’Connor is a valuable presence in midfield but has also shown his quality as a left-sided centre back in Phil Parkinson’s three-man defence.

The 24-year-old was back in training earlier this week according to boss Parkinson and Wrexham have now posted a photo of him in action.

O’Connor was seen on the ball with Wrexham adding ‘great to have you back, Tom’ alongside the photo with Wrexham fans loving seeing him back on the grass.

The moustache is on show but sadly, O’Connor’s mullet appears to have gone.

Wrexham fans will be delighted to have O’Connor back for the run-in and he could make a big impact whenever he gets back into the team.

We would be surprised to see him go back into the starting XI this weekend but he could be an option from the bench, bolstering Parkinson’s squad at a crucial time.

Injuries to James Jones and George Evans may mean that O’Connor is needed in midfield rather than in defence, but that versatility will be welcomed in the final weeks of the season.
