Americans 'feel for British people with all bad royal news': 'Been a whirlwind'

The Blaze TV host Lauren Chen has revealed the American reaction the Royal Family's latest health updates, as the King and Princess Kate continue to remain absent from public duties.

King Charles is currently receiving treatment for "a form of cancer" and has been seen occasionally since beginning his treatment process.

Princess Kate is also absent as she recovers from a planned abdominal procedure in January, and has been confirmed by Kensington Palace to not be returning to duties until "after Easter".

In the absence of the two senior royals, Queen Camilla and Prince William have stepped up their engagements and public appearances, amid growing questions about the conditions of the King and Princess.

The Princess of Wales was spotted this week driving with her mother Carole Middleton, as she was papped by an American publication sitting in the passenger seat, wearing sunglasses.

As Queen Camilla also took a break from duties in recent weeks, pressure is growing on the Royal Family to remain united and maintain their public engagements.

Discussing the latest health updates from King Charles and Princess Kate, Lauren Chen told GBN America that the US reaction to the news has been that of sympathy for the British people.

Speaking to host Mark Dolan, Chen said it was "sad to hear" the news of King Charles's cancer diagnosis from across the pond.

Chen revealed: "For a lot of Americans, their hearts felt for the British people."

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

She added: "They have just not long ago lost the Queen, and now King Charles has ascended to the throne, he is hit with this bad news.

"It seems like there's been quite a roller coaster for the British people when it comes to their royals."

Detailing the pressure on Prince William to look after Princess Kate and his family as well as maintain public duties, Chen said the Prince and Princess of Wales are becoming "more important" for the Royal Family, possibly more so than the King himself.

Chen explained: "There is so much affinity for those two, because they seem like perhaps even the next strong pillars of the Royal Family, like Queen Elizabeth was before them.

"We know that he's [William] going to be ascending to the throne sooner rather than later, perhaps, depending on the King's health. I hate to almost cast a dark shadow over this, but it's simply true.

"Kate Middleton has been a huge part of the royal presence, especially since Meghan and Harry have left, so it goes to show how much the British public is looking to them for representation of their country."

Chen continued: "Kate and William can provide consistency, longevity and stability to the throne.

"Obviously we expect privacy for the royals when it comes to serious matters, but I think ultimately this just goes to show how important Kate and William specifically have become to the Royal Family."
