'I'm just hoping': Sean Dyche shares his thoughts on whether 'special' Everton star will be sold this summer

Jarrad Branthwaite’s Everton future has been a talking point during the 2023/24 season.

The 21-year-old’s performances have certainly caught the eye, and now some of Europe’s elite are showing interest.

Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham and Real Madrid are believed to be interested in the defender.

Jamie Carragher has even referred to Branthwaite as “outstanding” and said that Everton have a “special” talent on their hands.

“I think he is [special]. And what is also special is the number of centre-backs we have in the Premier League aged 21 or younger,” he told Monday Night Football.

And now Sean Dyche has again been questioned on the defender’s future.

Talking to The Liverpool Echo, the Everton boss reiterated his stance on players being sold at Goodison Park.

“We don’t want to sell any good players. It’s as simple as that, and he’s proven to be a very good player,” he said.

“We’re not in the business of trying to sell players. You only sell players if you have to sell players or there’s a problem. There’s no problem; therefore, I’m just hoping we don’t need to sell players. At the minute, we certainly don’t. So we will see.”

Evertonians will have to wait and see when it comes to Branthwaite’s future. There has been talk of the Toffees lining up replacements, with Hull City’s Jacob Greaves has reportedly emerged as a target, as has Sunderland’s Dan Ballard.

Considering that other defenders have already been targeted, the club could be bracing themselves for intense interest in their star man.

However, with plenty of years on his contract andno relegation clause in place, Everton stand an excellent chance of either retaining his services or landing a huge fee.
