Edu Gaspar and Gabriel Magalhaes were amongst those to laud William Saliba on Instagram after Arsenal claimed a huge victory against Brentford on Saturday.
The Gunners needed a late winner from Kai Havertz to secure the three points which took Mikel Arteta’s side back to the top of the Premier League table.
It was a hard-fought win for Arsenal. The Gunners were largely dominant. However, they also rode their luck at times. Aaron Ramsdale had to make a handful of big saves after the break.
William Saliba lauded after Arsenal win
Of course, the main threat for the Bees was Ivan Toney. Toney nearly scored an audacious strike from 40 yards, which left Ramsdale desperately scrambling backwards to keep the ball out.
But the striker did not score. And it was his battle with William Saliba which was particularly fascinating to watch.
Few strikers in the Premier League have been able to get the better of the Frenchman during his time in England. Toney had probably more joy than most. But Saliba also had his moments to shine.
Following the win, the 22-year-old has taken to Instagram. And the likes of Jurrien Timber, Edu Gaspar and Gabriel Magalhaes were clearly impressed…
Gunners have no reason to fear season-defining week
The partnership between Saliba and Gabriel continues to go from strength to strength. Arsenal have been flawless in the Premier League in 2024. And they have only conceded four goals in the eight league games they have played.
That fight will give them huge belief heading into Tuesday’s second-leg against Porto, as well as that massive clash with Manchester City next weekend.
They are coming up against the best striker in the division. So both Saliba and Gabriel are going to have to be at the top of their games.
But clearly, based on their recent performances, Arsenal have little reason to fear coming up against the Premier League champions right now.
