‘Aggressive’: Conor Coady says £34.5m Tottenham Hotspur player is really ‘fantastic’

Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur beat Unai Emery’s Aston Villa at Villa Park in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa are in the race for the fourth spot in the Premier League table this season.

The match at Villa Park was expected to be a very entertaining match. Although the first half was disappointing, the second period was anything but.

Tottenham scored two quick goals. Villa had midfielder John McGinn sent off in the 65th minute.

Spurs won the match at Villa Park 4-0, but the one negative from the game for the North London club was the injury suffered by Micky van de Ven.

Van de Ven started the match in central defence alongside Cristian Romero, but the £34.5 million (Sky Sports) Netherlands international had to come off in the 49th minute due to an injury.

Conor Coady praises Tottenham Hotspur defender Micky van de Ven

Leicester City defender Conor Coady was following the match for BBC Radio 5 Live, and when the 22-year-old was being substituted, the former Wolverhampton Wanderers star noted just what makes the youngster so special.

Coady said about van de Ven on BBC Radio 5 Live (2:06 pm, March 10, 2024): “It’s how you want to watch football.

“You want to watch football on the front foot, you want to watch people being aggressive and stepping in and not worrying about the space in behind but use his pace to get back in.

“He is a fantastic footballer, and like I said, for this Tottenham team and how they play, he is a massive part of that.”

My View: Micky van de Ven is a big player for Tottenham Hotspur

Micky van de Ven is only 22 now, but I have no doubt that he is one of the best and most important players for Tottenham Hotspur.

Having turned down the chance to join Liverpool in the summer of 2023 and rated highly by Eric Dier, Van de Ven has established himself as a regular in the Tottenham first team when he is fit and available.

The 22-year-old has had injury problems this season and had a spell on the sidelines. Tottenham fans will hope that the injury that he suffered against Aston Villa does not keep him out of action for an extended period of time.
