Ian Wright says 26-year-old Arsenal star was simply 'magnificent' vs Brentford

Ian Wright has lauded Ben White after the Arsenal defender’s ‘magnificent’ performance on Saturday against London rivals Brentford.

The 26-year-old fullback was at his creative best on the weekend as White assisted both of Arsenal’s goals in their 2-1 win against the Bees, taking the Gunners top of the Premier League at the time of writing.

With White scoring earlier in the week against Sheffield United, it has been quite the past few days for the former Brighton & Hove Albion man, who is reportedly set to sign a new contract with Arsenal.

And speaking on Match of the Day, Wright was full of praise for White’s performance, with the right-back playing an integral role in Arsenal’s sensational Premier League winning run.

The shift from the centre of the defence to out right has been an inspired change from Mikel Arteta, and White has not looked back since the position change last year.

Wright said when breaking down White’s performance for Arsenal against Brentford: “I thought again Ben White was magnificent, Saka also done very well.”

The pundit added: “Ben White has been brilliant. He has been playing very well. You have got people like Ben White stepping up with his assists, Kai in four games, Declan scoring now, it has been brilliant.”

White has improved season upon season at Arsenal, with the defender adding more to his game this year that has made the centre-back-turn-right-back one of the best in his position in the Premier League.

And with talks now ongoing over a new contract, Arsenal need to get a move on to confirm the news that every supporter wants to hear surrounding White.

Indeed, the defender has been sensational this season and continues to show each week why he is one of the best around in the right-back role, and White deserves an improved deal at the Arsenal.
