Border guards detained evaders who tried to reach Slovakia

A fourth perpetrator, who fell behind, was tracked by a drone.

The detained residents of Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast now face charges of "illegal crossing or attempt to illegally cross the state border of Ukraine," which could result in a fine of up to UAH 13,600 ($355) or 15 days of administrative detention.

Two of the detainees were also charged with malicious disobedience to a lawful order or demand which carries a further fine of up to UAH 1,700 ($45) or correctional labor for up to two months with 20% of their earnings deducted, or 15 days of administrative detention.

A 23-year-old resident of the Uzhhorod district, who was responsible for transporting the draft dodgers, was also identified and charged with illegal transportation of persons across the state border. He faces up to nine years in prison.
