Rangers v Hibernian - Team news confirmed, Clement springs rotation surprise

Rangers take on Hibernian this afternoon with a place in the semi-finals of the Scottish Cupand a trip to Hampden up for grabs.

Gers boss Phillipe Clement could do with a few more bodies in his squad as the Ibrox injury curse shows no signs of easing up.

Rotation choices are limited even if there is one eye on Benfica on Thursday, but Rangers will need to see off Hibernian first, this is who the manager has gone with at Easter Road.

Rangers v Hibernian – Team news confirmed

Hibs have had a tough run of fixtures since the last time we met them and have had a bit of a mixed bag in terms of results.

They’ve won the games that you’d expect them to but have been competitive in games against Celtic, Hearts, Kilmarnock and Aberdeen.

In short, they are better than they were.

Jack Butland was exceptional against Benfica and, if he maintains his current form until the end of the season, we will be in a good place.

Leon Balogun and Borna Barisic might be leaving the club at the end of the season and, despite a congested fixture list, continue to be left out.

John Lundstram looked out on his legs in Portugal, which is a worrying sign for one of the fittest players in the team, he needs a rest and the international break will be key for his recovery.

Fabio Silva looked like a new player on the left-hand side of the attack and is now our biggest threat with the ball at his feet.

He was heavily involved with both goals against Benfica but we need more from his fellow striker Cyriel Dessers.

The big Nigerian should be confident after being recalled to the Super Eagles squad though.

Players like Ross McCausland and Scott Wright really need to step up to the mark with so many key attackers missing – if they come off the bench, they need to make an impact.

At this stage of the season, there is simply no space for passengers.

This is your Rangers team to face Hibernian this evening:

The rarest of things, anunchanged Philippe Clement side.

After the shambles at home against Motherwell, this is a great chance to put down a marker for the rest of the season.

Progress to the next round, of course, is all that matters.
