Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) Sunday came out against his fellow Republicans who he says threw Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL) "to the wolves" without fact checking her speech in response to President Joe Biden's State of the Union address.
Britt has been the subject of consistent criticism for her response speech, first for her delivery, which some have called "over the top," and then for strongly implying that a sex-trafficking story from George W. Bush's administration occurred during Biden's own presidency.
Britt's spokesman ultimately admitted that the story wasn't linked to Biden's presidency.

But Roy says Britt is the victim of her fellow Republicans who, for some reason, sought to make her a laughingstock in the media.
"The Swamp GOP doesn’t get it, as evidenced by the SOTU debacle," he said, summarizing how he believes things went for Britt:
"The GOP powers-that-be invite a radical progressive democrat & lawless potus (Biden) to speak," he continued, "the same week as passing the first 1/2 of a swamp omnibus w/ MORE Democrat votes than GOP to give him MORE $$ to continue to his mass-release illegal aliens, many of whom have killed or harmed Americans like Laken Riley, whose name they put on a bill that doesn’t focus on said 'mass releases,' while throwing a freshman Senator to the wolves by asking her to give the rebuttal knowing she had not yet given even a Senate speech & without fact-checking the speech to help protect her from making an error with an outdated anecdote, & thus allow radical progressive democrats to make THAT the story rather than their dangerous, purposeful open border policies endangering Americans, that these same chamber-of-commerce GOP were complicit in creating, & then sit silently & let the world pile on Sen. Britt (whose sin is not the speech, but ever siding with fools running Swamp GOP) & allow Laken Riley’s name to be replaced with memes about Britt while the same Swamp GOP is gearing up to fund Ukraine & continue warrantless searches on Americans… but say 'trust us, we’ll do [fill in empty promise] next year.'"
He concluded with: "Want change? PRIMARIES."
