90 Day Fiancé fans convinced 'Piggy' nickname caused TV star's drastic weight loss

When 90 Day Fiancé star Nick Ham is asked what the general stereotype of the USA is in South Korea, he says: “greasy foods and being fat.” Following his take on North America, Nick proceeded to call his partner, Devin Hoofman, “Piggy” which has 90 Day Fiancé fans divided.

Nick’s comments about Devin’s appearance sparked some concern among her family members during 90 Day Fiancé season 10. Her dad says he “needs to have a heart-to-heart with Nick” to address the Piggy comments and set the record straight on “how he expects his daughter to be treated.”

Meet Devin and Nick 90 Day Fiancé

90 Day Fiancé season 10 welcomed a new couple determined to see if their international romance could last in October 2023.

Devin, 23, hails from Searcy, Arkansas, and Nick, 31, is from Daejeon, South Korea.

During the TLC show, Nick travels from South Korea to Arkansas. Upon his arrival, Nick was surprised at the size of Devin’s house, and he gets to know her family over a dinner of fish and chips.

Nick calls Devin ‘Piggy’

Devin and Nick dated for two years while they both lived in Australia. In order to stay together, they decided to get engaged and Nick made the move to Arkansas.

While Nick had some apprehension over what Arkansas would be like, viewers of the show were more concerned by his tendency to call his fiancé “piggy.”

When the two are reunited in the USA, a giant stuffed “piggy” toy is spotted in Devin’s bedroom, which we can only assume was a gift from Nick.

He also tells her she “always has fast food for lunch,” and calls her Piggy while touching her stomach in front of her family.

Devin asked her beau to stop calling her Piggy, and described the situation as a “long ongoing battle she’s given up on.”

Fans see a silver lining

When Nick’s Piggy comments come to light on 90 Day Fiancé, Devin’s family aren’t impressed.

Her mom says: “Nick calls Devin Piggy, I don’t think he understands the impact, especially in our culture, being in America where weight is such a huge deal and women struggle with it every day.”

But, fans watching the season 10 Tell-All appear to see a silver lining in all of the name-calling. One took to X (Twitter) to write:

“I love Devin and Nick. The ONLY thing they had to discuss was the “piggy” then.”

More said they didn’t mind the nickname, tweeting: “I think it’s endearing” and “Not to condone the name, but if that is the worst thing that ever happens to them, then they will last a long time.”

However, others were still outraged during the March 10 episode and shared their confusion over Nick’s comment: “She’s skinnier now but still a piggy.”

More said they noticed Devin had experienced weight loss at the season 10 Tell-All. One wrote how they “feel bad” for Devin, tweeting: “This man Nick got Devin so… insecure from calling her piggy, look like she went on Ozempic cuz she is skinny… now.”

But another proved how fans are divided on the subject, writing: “Look, I called an ex-boyfriend Stinky all the time. He wasn’t stinky at all, it was just a random pet name that stuck. Maybe Piggy is the same?”
