‘Insane’… Jurgen Klopp was blown away by the quality of one of his Liverpool subs vs Man City

The actual result between Liverpool and Manchester City doesn’t necessarily reflect the excitement level that the game brought to Anfield. This was a match fought intensely between two sides competing at the very pinnacle of the game.

It was a match which saw Jurgen Klopp possibly go head to head with Pep Guardiola for the last time as manager of Liverpool. The memories the two of them have created on the pitch coming up against each other have been indelible.

Yesterday was no exception. Both sides went full throttle, and the speed and rhythm of the game was unlike anything we have seen all season. It was the kind of game where your eyes are glued to the spot at all times. You just don’t want to look away. Because if you blink, you might just miss the action.

From Liverpool’s perspective what was the most impressive aspect about the game was how the Reds were able to keep apace with City, even though Klopp was missing so many of his key personnel.

Jurgen Klopp on Mohamed Salah

One of the biggest absentees from the starting XI was definitely Mohamed Salah. He is one of the best players in the world, and Liverpool have missed him sorely. Even if the Reds’ results would suggest otherwise.

In the end the Egyptian was introduced against City in the second-half and changed the dynamic of the game. Salah in his brief cameo showed what Liverpool missed. He was a constant threat to the opposition and caused Pep Guardiola’s side plenty of problems.

Speaking after the game, Jurgen Klopp was very much pleased by the performance of his talisman.

“Mo is coming back and his quality is just insane. In the first situation we nearly scored. He has no rhythm, another 30 or 40 minutes and now from here he can go,” Klopp told Sky Sports.

With 10 games still to go, to have Salah back will be a huge boost for Liverpool. He is someone who can win games single-handedly for the Reds/
