Guglielmo Vicario was amongst those to laud Destiny Udogie on Instagram after the Tottenham Hotspur left-back’s performance in the 4-0 win over Aston Villa on Sunday.
Spurs made a real statement in the race for the top-four in the Premier League. Few would have anticipated – particularly after the first-half – that Tottenham would leave Villa Park with a 4-0 victory under their belts.
There were brilliant displays all over the pitch from the visitors. But one of the most remarkable aspects of Tottenham’s performance was the work of Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie.
Destiny Udogie lauded after Tottenham win
Many were amazed by how Porro and Udogie were used against Villa, with both men almost playing as wide attacking midfielders. But the pair have been revelations throughout the season, with Udogie completing more dribbles in the middle of the park than any other Premier League player this season.
The £21 million Italian was poor by his standards against Crystal Palace previously, making a couple of mistakes. But he looked to be back to his best against Aston Villa.
And thus, it was no surprise that Udogie has been lauded on Instagram, with Guglielmo Vicario, Pedro Porro and Brennan Johnson impressed…
Spurs have now set their standard
It could be a massive result in Tottenham’s season. They obviously flew out of the traps at the start of the campaign. But they have found the going a little tougher over the last few months.
In fact, Sunday marked the first time they have won two league games on the spin since December. Their challenge now is to see if they replicate Sunday’s second-half performance in the games to come.
But clearly, the potential in the side is obvious. Four of Sunday’s starting lineup were 22 or younger, while Radu Dragusin also came off the bench.
Udogie is one of those who appears to have huge potential, and a very bright future ahead.
