Report: Leeds 27-year-old set for National Team recall after three-year hiatus, shining out on loan

Only a handful of the senior players that left Leeds United on loan using the relegation loan clause have actually impressed this season – but none more so than Robin Koch at Frankfurt, in Germany.

Brenden Aaronson only recently opened his account for Union, but has flopped this season. Marc Roca started well at Betis, but has dropped out of the side in recent weeks. Luis Sinisterra, a bit hit and miss.

Max Wober has been consistent, while Diego Llorente has been a regular for Roma and even opened his account last time out – certainly, he’s doing a lot better than Rasmus Kristensen under Daniele De Rossi.

Jack Harrison has shown glimpses at Everton – mirroring his entire Leeds spell. Koch, though, has been the best of the bunch. A regular for Frankfurt, clocking up 33 games and scoring for goals. Two assists.

He’s even captained Frankfurt at times this season, and played in Europe – helping his side keep nine clean sheets. Koch has already agreed to join Frankfurt on a permanent basis, at the end of his loan.

Robin Koch set for Germany recall as Leeds loanee impresses

Koch has eight caps for Germany, but his last cap came way back in June 2021. Now, after nearly three years out of the side – Sport1 report that Julian Naglesmann is set to call Koch into his Germany side.

Germany have two incredibly tough friendlies scheduled for the end of March, taking on France and The Netherlands. Koch’s form looks like it will see him win a place back in the Germany squad this month.

Leeds are in action once more before the March break, taking on Millwall at Elland Road next Sunday. The break will then see our four Wales stars take on Glen Kamara’s Finland in the Euro 2024 play-offs.
