Central Midlands Alliance league Division One East sees Kirton Brickworks in danger of losing lead

A reprieve in the weather saw much-needed games in the Central Midlands Alliance League take place over the weekend.

Kirton Brickworks have suffered a bit of a slump at the wrong time, their goalless draw at home to Linby Welfare being the third game running they haven’t taken the full points available.

Before the match manager Jamie Birch acknowledged that it was a must win match for The Brickies.

A loss against Long Bennington at the start of February and a 3-3 draw against RHP on February 17 now sees Blidworth Welfare within striking distance of the lead.

Blidworth hold five games in hand and are only ten points behind current Nottingham Division One East League leaders Kirton.

Kirton will now host Ashland Rovers on Saturday, (kick-off 3pm).

RHP had a bye and will next be in action on Saturday as they host Linby (kick-off 3pm).

The YMCA based side currently sit in fourth position on the table.

There was good news at the gate but not on the pitch as Ollerton Town’s Reserves side went down 5-2 against a tough Clipstone Reserves team.

The visiting cobras attacked well with Callum Atkinson (2), Gaz Seagrave, Taffy Pariva and Liam West all scoring.

Archie Ward and Joe Tunnard put goals away for the hosts.

Long Bennington shared the points on the road as they drew 1-1 with Pilsley.

Jack Marshall netted the lone goal for the visitors.

Long Bennington will next take on Blidworth on Tuesday, March 19 (kick-off 7.45pm).
