Report: 'Incredible' Premier League attacker has just become Newcastle's top transfer target this summer

Newcastle United appear to be firming up plans for the summer transfer window, and have identified one of their top targets ahead of the 2024/25 Premier League season.

The Magpies are hoping to sign a versatile forward when the transfer window opens, which would hint at someone similar to Anthony Gordon arriving. The 23-year-old is primarily a winger, but has proven this season that he can also play up front.

Someone similar on the opposite flank would be perfect, as the Magpies go in search of an upgrade on Miguel Almiron. While the Paraguayan has done very well at St James’ Park, it is clear that we need someone better if we are to continue progressing as a club.

And that is why rumours of a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Pedro Neto are so exciting.

Newcastle interested in summer deal for Pedro Neto

According to TalkSPORT, Newcastle United have now put Neto at the top of their summer wish list as they begin to decide which deals to pursue.

They state that the Portuguese attacker looks likely to leave Wolves, with a fee of £60million being rumoured.

That is a huge amount of money, and would make him one of Newcastle’s most expensive signings ever. Not only that, but TalkSPORT believe that the Magpies would need to sell someone to fund such a deal.

The report adds that Eddie Howe is a huge fan of Neto, and it is easy to understand why. His blistering pace is deadly, while he is also lethal in the final third. The 23-year-old has got nine Premier League assists this season, which is only one less than Kieran Trippier.

Neto’s injury record is a concern for Newcastle

Neto would certainly be an upgrade on Almiron. He is an ‘incredible‘ player, but the only concern, other than the fee, is his injury record.

Wolves’ number seven has had a lot of fitness issues in recent years, and he suffered another injury at the weekend.

Given the issues that Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson have had, the last thing Newcastle need is another player who is susceptible to injuries. That is something the club will have to strongly consider as they weigh up whether or not to make a move for Neto.

But he is a massive talent, and the type of winger that the Toon Army would love to cheer on at St James’ Park.
