Report: Man City are now really interested in signing £100m player, Pep Guardiola is reportedly a 'big fan'

It has been reported that Manchester City are interested in signing Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.

Previously, the Brazilian international admitted thathe does not enjoy playing against City, as his Magpies side feel like “children” who are playing against 15 players whenever they face them.

However, the 26-year-old has also showcased his admiration towards Ilkay Gundogan, claiming that he has admired the German since his time at Borussia Dortmund.

Since signing for Eddie Howe’s side in 2022, he has established his reputation as one of the best midfielders in thePremier League and even across European football.

In October last year, Guimaraes signed a contract extension at Newcastle, tying him to the club until 2028.

However, Football Transfers have revealed that Manchester City are interested in signing Bruno Guimaraes, as they intend to bolster their midfield department in the summer.

Furthermore, it has been claimed that Pep Guardiola is believed to be a “big fan” of the former Lyon technician.

The report states that the Rio de Janeiro-born midfielder is interested in leaving Newcastle at the end of the season to sign for either Real Madrid or Barcelona.

But such moves are believed to be unlikely at this stage.

Newcastle, however, are reported to be open to listening to offers from both the Spanish giants while for other teams, like Manchester City, the club would demand them to fork out a £100 million fee towards his release clause.

Paris Saint-Germain have also been named as one of the suitors while a move to either Liverpool or Chelsea has been deemed unlikely in Guimaraes’ case.

After City’s 2-0 win against Newcastle in March, Guardiola praised Guimaraes’ display and the player went on to hail him as “the best coach in history” [via The Mirror].

Only time will tell whether Bruno Guimaraes will end up working with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
