Israeli foreign minister calls for pressure on Hamas from UNSC

Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz has called on the UN Security Council to put pressure on the Palestinian militant movement Hamas to release hostages held in the Gaza Strip.

"I'm demanding from the security council of the United Nations to put as much pressure as possible on the Hamas organization to release immediately and unconditionally" the hostages, Katz told the most powerful UN body on Monday.

"Please try your utmost to stop this living hell on earth," the minister added.

The UN Security Council met to discuss a report presented a week ago, in which the UN said Israeli allegations of sexual violence during the attacks by terrorists from Hamas and other extremist Palestinian organizations on October 7 were credible.
