Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling "try their best to stay out of the spotlight".
The 50-year-old actress didn't pose alongside Ryan, 43, at the Oscars on Sunday (10.03.24) - but the actor has Eva's full support and the couple simply prefer to keep their romance low-key.
A source told PEOPLE: "It truly seems they are surviving Hollywood as a couple, because of the way they‘ve handled being famous. They try their best to stay out of the spotlight."
The loved-up couple - who have daughters Esmeralda, nine, and Amada, seven, together - ultimately choose to prioritise their family life over fame.
The insider explained: "For them, the most important job is their girls. Everything else comes second. Of course Eva is proud and excited for Ryan. She still sees it as a job, though."
Although they don't flaunt their romance in public, the celebrity duo are still "very happy together".
The source said: "It seems like a healthy way of living. They’re amazing as a couple and very happy together. There’s so much love."
Earlier this month, Eva's brother claimed that the celebrity couple rely on "communication" to make their relationship work.
Carlo Mendez described Eva and Ryan as "soulmates", explaining that they have "an understanding" of what the other one is experiencing at any given time.
Speaking to Us Weekly about their relationship, Carlo shared: "They just have a great understanding. It’s communication.
"I think the key in any relationship is communication and having an understanding of what each person is going through and just talking it out. It’s pretty easy when you do that. It’s communication and understanding as well. They’re soulmates."
