Traffic on Dartford Bridge from Lakeside to Dartford held as police deal with “concerns for man’s welfare”

Concerns over a man’s welfare have been made as traffic has formed on one side of a major crossing.

Motorists are being held on the Dartford Bridge clockwise as Essex Police are dealing with the incident.

Vehicles have been unable to move since 6am today (March 12).

The bridge has been closed and queues are forming from J31 A1306 Lakeside to J1A A206 Dartford.

Traffic has also built up for two miles before J30 A13 Lakeside, and there are A13 queues London-bound from the Tilbury Docks junction.

Essex police tweeted: “We’re currently dealing with concerns for the welfare of a man on the Dartford River Crossing.

“Traffic is being held on the crossing as we work to bring the situation to a safe conclusion.”

A tweet from National Highways said: “Traffic remains held on the A282 Dartford Crossing southbound in Essex due to an ongoing police-led incident.

“This incident is likely to be ongoing for some time. Please consider alternative routes if you can.”

The eastbore tunnel has also been closed north-bound to provide a diversion for south-bound traffic.

Kent and Essex Police have been asked for more information.
