Emiliano Buendia posts a three-word message from Aston Villa training

That defeat to Tottenham on Sunday well and truly battered Aston Villa’s morale, from the players to the fans.

You would have thought that only a win in the next game would cheer up the mood, but it seems as though there is already some positivity.

Yes, it’s still doom and gloom that Aston Villa managed to lose in such a manner against their Champions League rivals.

But on Monday, Emiliano Buendia posted an image of himself on Instagram, in training and kicking a ball.

After his horror ACL injury at the start of the campaign, it’s good to see the 27-year-old back in action and getting back to what he does best.

Emiliano Buendia won’t be back on the Aston Villa team sheet any time soon, but at least there is hope he can get some minutes under his belt before the season is out.

And with the team aiming to reach the Europa Conference League final, perhaps, just perhaps, he can play some part in that.

‘Missed too much,’ wrote the playmaker.

Moving onto the next game…

Look, that Spurs defeat was damaging and the John McGinn red card didn’t help matters, but all we can do is win the next game and concentrate on ourselves.

One thing Unai Emery has done very well this season is to ensure the players, after a defeat, respond with a win.

And if that can happen for the 2nd leg fixture against Ajax coming up, then we can look more positively towards the West Ham game at the weekend.

End the week with two wins, then we head into the international break in the next round of the ECL and are still in the top four.

Yes, it’s in Spurs’ hands right now, but there is still a long, long way to go here! Expect more drop points before the season is out.
