Liverpool want ‘very clever’ £51m player this summer, a year after Everton were scouting him

One of the main priorities for Liverpool in the summer transfer window will undoubtedly be to bring in a centre-back. Especially since Joel Matip is expected to leave the club upon the expiry of his contract.

Even though Jarell Quansah has made great strides and is a huge talent, Liverpool will still probably want to fill the void Matip leaves behind. Bringing in another centre-back will be on the agenda. Prior to Quansah’s emergence, that agenda may have been two centre-backs, but the 20-year-old has definitely helped to save Liverpool money.

In terms of the profile that Liverpool will be looking for. The Reds will target a young centre-back. Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez are both very experienced.Ibrahima Konate is now starting to reach his prime. The next player will be one for the future for Liverpool. Someone who will be seen to have as equally exciting potential as Quansah.

Willian Pacho on Liverpool’s transfer radar

According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, Liverpool and Arsenal are both interested in Eintracht Frankfurt centre-back Willian Pacho. Plettenberg claims that Pacho would roughly cost around £51m this summer.

Only 22-years-old, Pacho is highly regarded in the Bundesliga. He is seen as one of the most exciting young centre-backs in the league. Already an Ecuadorean international as well, Pacho ticks a lot of boxes for Liverpool in terms of what the club is looking for.

In the past, Frankfurt’s sporting director, Markus Krusche has spoken very highly of him as well. Describing him as a ‘very clever’ player as per the Bundesliga’s official website.

“Willian is a very clever player, who listens well and is quick to implement what’s asked of him. His speed and strength in the tackle are what make him stand out,” Krosche said.

TEAMtalk also reported last year that Pacho was on Everton’s radar. If he is available this summer there will be plenty of suitors for his services. Whether Liverpool will be one of them, only time will tell.
