Over 63k baby swings are being recalled for a suffocation risk. See if your swing is included

New Jersey-based baby gear manufacturer Jool Baby recalled over 63,000 Nova Baby Infant Swings due to a potential suffocation risk.

Lakewood, New Jersey-based baby product manufacturer Jool Baby has recalled its Nova Baby Infant Swings because they pose a potential suffocation risk to infants, according to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

Jool Baby designed the swings, made from June 2022 through September 2023, for infant sleep. However, it is inclined greater than 10 degrees, which violates the CPSC’s Infant Sleep Products Regulation and the Safe Sleep for Babies Act.

It also does not “meet mandatory warning requirements regarding sleep under the swing standard,”according to CPSC.

Jool Baby says that there have not yet been reports of injury related to the infant swing.

The company sold the $150 Nova Baby Infant Swings in-store at Walmart and online at www.JoolBaby.com, Amazon, Babylist, Target, Walmart and other websites from November 2022 through November 2023.

The gray swings are about 28 inches long, 19 inches wide and 24 inches high with a round aluminum base that has music buttons on the front and the company name “Jool Baby.” They also have a metal seat frame and cloth seats with restraints, a headrest and a label that says “NOVA.” The attached canopy has three hanging toys: a yellow moon, a blue cloud and a pink star.

The sewn-in warning label on the back of the swing’s seat has the manufacturing date code in month, day, year format.

The infant swings use AAA batteries or an AC adaptor for power and come with an electronic remote control.

CPSC urges customers, who own the Nova Baby Infant Swing, to stop using the product for sleep and reach out to Jool Baby to request a free repair kit. The repair kit includes a new seat with updated on-product warnings, updated plush toys and an updated remote control.

Customers can request the kit by submitting an online registration form here with a photo of the warning label.

For more information, customers can contact Jool Baby by calling 888-788-5665 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET, Monday through Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. ET, on Friday, emailing the company at recall@JoolBaby.com or going to www.JoolBaby.com/recall or www.JoolBaby.com and clicking “Recall Information” at the bottom of the page.
