The administration of US President Joe Biden announced today a new $300 million military aid package, which they will allocate to Ukraine, reports journalist Lara Seligman from Politico.
According to Seligman, White House representative Jake Sullivan stated that the new aid package includes:
- Interceptor missiles;
- Ammunition for HIMARS;
- 155mm artillery shells, including fragmentation and cassette dual-purpose ammunition;
- 105mm artillery shells;
- 84 anti-tank complexes.
US assistance to Ukraine
The US Congress has been unable to approve new funding for assistance to Ukraine for several months, to continue supplying weapons and more. This situation is due to differences between Republicans and Democrats on border protection funding, which is included in the assistance package for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan.
Recently, the Senate passed a separate bill with funds for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. For it to take effect, the document still needs to be approved by the House of Representatives and signed by the president.
As CNN reported, the House of Representatives may vote on financial assistance to Ukraine at the end of March or in April.
Earlier today, Politico wrote that the new US military aid package to Ukraine may include several long-range ATACMS missiles.
However, the US Department of Defense has not yet published a detailed list of weapons that will be included in the new support package. However, it is worth noting that missiles can be transferred to Ukraine without prior announcement.
