The Voice star's father was in a 90s rockband and grew up watching him play drums

The Voice judges almost seemed disappointed they’d filled all their coaching spots after Olivia Rubini’s blind audition on The Voice this March. The Delaware native pulled out all the stops during her performance and gave her rendition of a 70s hit song with ease. Seemingly a natural on the stage, Olivia gave viewers at home “goosebumps,” and more were “crying” at her song.

The Voice season 25 encountered some major shake-ups when it came to the show’s judges. This year waved goodbye to Gwen Stefani and welcomed back Chance The Rapper, Reba McEntire, John Legend, and newbies Dan and Shay. When Olivia stepped out to perform she ended up taking one of the judge’s final spots.

Who is Olivia Rubini’s father?

The Voice rounded off its sixth round of blind auditions with a banger in the form of Olivia Rubini’s cover of Long Long Time.

As 24-year-old Olivia performed, her parents could be seen watching on.

The NBC star explained to the judges how her father is a music producer.

She’s the daughter of Ritchie Rubini. He still works in the field today and produces Olivia’s music.

Olivia’s blind audition

After smashing it out of the park with her cover of Linda Ronstadt’s Long Long Time, Olivia was welcomed to Team John.

She follows in her musical father’s footsteps by appearing on the show.

Ritchie was a drummer for a rock band called The Caulfields which was famous in the nineties.

Olivia explained of her childhood: “I grew up in a very musical family. I was sitting in guitar cases and watching him play the drums and listening to him make music. That was everything. I’d get picked up after school and go to the studio…” writes Mount St Mary’s University.

‘She gave me goosebumps’

Olivia’s phenomenal blind audition was more than enough to land her a place on John’s team.

Reba said: “Unfortunately, I’ve gotten my team full. I couldn’t turn around. I definitely would have ’cause you’re a great singer.”

Chance added: “My team is also full. If it wasn’t full, I would have definitely turned for you. I think you’re a star.”

Dan and Shay echoed the same sentiment before Olivia made it onto John’s team by default.

It’s no wonder she’s bossing the competition already given how Olivia started being produced as a music artist by her father from the age of 14.

She likens herself to “Linda Ronstadt, Stevie Knicks, Fleetwood Mac” as well as “Miley Cyrus and Harry Styles,” per NBC.

The singer from Wilmington, Delaware is being hailed as a “storyteller” with a “beautiful tone” by fans.

Taking to the comments section of her audition, more said: “Great song choice!!! Stunning voice that gave me goosebumps!!! She can go far!!!!!”

Another wrote: “I think she is my favorite I cried Her voice is beautiful.”
