Chelsea fans noticed something interesting Kai Havertz did for Arsenal last night in the Champions League

In a season where Chelsea are not taking part in Champions League action, they have been forced to watch a number of players they sold over the summer take part instead.

They will no doubt have taken a lot of joy in Mason Mount’s exit from the competition in the group stage with Manchester United in embarrassing circumstances.

However, the same can not be said for Arsenal and Kai Havertz, who booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League last night.

The German was on target for the Gunners from the spot, as former Chelsea transfer target David Raya was the hero at the Emirates.

They were facing a Porto side in a similar fashion to how the Blues did when Havertz was a member of the squad who won the competition back in 2021.

Mount and Ben Chilwell were on target as they picked up a 2-1 win across two legs.

Chelsea fans notice something about Havertz

It was notable after the second leg at Stamford Bridge that Porto boss Sergio Conceicao had a real issue with current manager Thomas Tuchel, and history repeated itself last night with Mikel Arteta.

There was a moment in the second half where Havertz actually pushed the manager for being too close to proceedings, causing a bit of an incident.

Blues fans were quick to remember the similarities between both of their club’s experiences with the manager.

One user took to Twitter and said: “Quite remarkable for the Porto gaffer to not even attempt to alter his post match interview from the one he did after getting knocked out by Chelsea in 2021. Havertz and England must be in this guy’s head rent free.”

Another added: “Remember what this manager did to Chelsea when they faced Porto few seasons ago. Am sure Havertz has that in mind. I remember how disrespectful he was to Chelsea. What goes around comes around.”

A third said: “I’m very sure Kai Havertz didn’t forget what that Porto manager said to Chelsea last time.”

Havertz and co will be awaiting Friday to see who they face in the next round of the competition, as they look to become the second club from London to win the Champions League.
