Legislators of the United States House of Representatives have supported a bill that could ban TikTok in the country, reports CNN.

The bill was supported by 352 members of the House of Representatives, with 65 opposed, including:

  • 15 Republicans
  • 50 Democrats.

"Passage of the bill through the GOP-controlled House comes as former President Donald Trump has signaled opposition to a ban," the material writes.

TikTok blocking

Last year, many countries discussed banning TikTok. Restrictions on the use of the social network are planned in the UK, USA, Australia, Ireland, the Netherlands, and other countries. Some countries also want to ban the use of the application by government officials.

On March 6, it became known that lawmakers introduced a bill to the US Congress requiring the Chinese company ByteDance to divest TikTok to avoid a ban on the video app in the country.

White House Chief Joe Biden, for his part, has expressed readiness to sign the bill to restrict the operation of the social network.
