Employees at German luxury carmaker Porsche are to receive a bonus of up to €9,690 ($10,587) because of the strong results for 2023.

The annual bonus is significantly higher than the €9,050 in 2022. A year before that, the bonus was €7,900.

The money is to be paid out with the April salary to employees at German locations of Porsche AG and its subsidiaries. The company says more than 28,000 employees will benefit.

The sports and off-road vehicle manufacturer presented its business figures for the past year on Tuesday.

The amount of the annual special payment is based on the carmaker's key business figures, and is traditionally generous at Porsche. By way of comparison, the bonus for the past year at the parent company VW was €4,735.

"Our employees can be very proud of our results," Porsche Human Resources Director Andreas Haffner said. In a challenging year they had performed very well.

The special payment has been available at Porsche since 1997.

The company's executive board and works council called on Porsche employees to use part of their bonuses to donate to charitable causes.
