Report: £1m talent praised by Rooney actually stayed behind as Crystal Palace went to Marbella, he could leave

The Crystal Palace squad have gone to a warm weather training camp in Spain but one player has been left behind.

After drawing with Luton Town, Crystal Palace have a substantial break between games which has left Oliver Glasner with an ideal opportunity.

This break is the perfect opportunity for Glasner to get some work done on the training pitch which is something he hasn’t had much of so far with game preparation likely taking priority.

So that leads us to believe that after this break, we will start to see some serious improvements and the team playing in a more Glasner-esque way.

During this training camp, Glasner will likely get a closer look at his players and make decisions about several, so the exclusion of Monday’s U21 hat trick hero Luke Plange should raise some eyebrows – considering he has been a regular in the match-day squad lately.

Luke Plange left out of Crystal Palace tour

The Marbella trip will be huge for fringe players to impress Glasner and therefore it’s safe to assume anyone not brought won’t be in his plans.

According to South London Press, Plange hasn’t been taken on the trip.

“He did not travel with the first team for their mid-season training week in Marbella”, they reported on Tuesday.

One reason for this could be the fact that Plange is being looked into as an option for HJK Helsinki on loan.

Wayne Rooney is a fan of Luke Plange

Speaking back when he was the Derby boss with Derbyshire Live about a then teenage Plange, Wayne Rooney raved about the talent.

“You see his attributes. He is a big lad, he can handle himself, and he held the ball up well.”

Continuing he raved about Plange’s goal, “I know it is a tap-in, but it is a great striker’s goal,” Rooney said.

“But it was not just his goal, his work rate was fantastic, some of his movement and runs in behind was really good.”
