1 killed, 1 injured when SUV hits motorcycle on N.J. highway, cops say

The driver of a motorcycle was killed and his passenger was injured when the bike was struck by an SUV on a busy highway on Wednesday, officials said.

The crash was reported around 2 p.m. on Route 46 East near the Union Boulevard Exit in Totowa, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

A Yamaha R6 sport bike was traveling on the highway when it was struck by an Acura MDX, authorities said.

The driver and passenger of the motorcycle, both 19-year-old men, were brought to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center. At the hospital, the driver was pronounced dead and the passenger was admitted in stable condition, officials said. The driver of the SUV, a 22-year-old man, was not injured.

Prosecutors did not identify the victim and have not yet released the circumstances of the crash. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
