'Punishing Donald': Mary Trump says her uncle gets hit hardest from new House GOP drama

Republican lawmaker Ken Buck announced he would retire early, throwing into doubt fellow Republican Lauren Boebert's bid to capture his old seat after he vacates it, but the effects of the decision also hit Donald Trump, according to his own niece.

Psychologist Mary Trump, who counts the former president as her uncle, said on Wednesday that the "one person who will experience the most fallout from this latest House debacle is Donald" J. Trump. She wrote about the topic on her Substack.

"Each time a Republican like Ken Buck resigns or retires in protest, it shines a bright light on the fact that Republican leadership is willing to hurt the American people – by scuttling their own bi-partisan border deal or their cynical unwillingness to fund support for Ukraine in the hopes that Russia will help Donald steal another election," she wrote.

Mary Trump further suggested that, as a result of this drama, swing voters and independents, likely in key states, "will take notice" of what's really happening.

"Imagine what Joe Biden could do in his second term if Democrats retake the majority in the House?" she asked.

Finally, Mary Trump said the focus has to remain on election day and voting out of power those who associate with the ex-president.

"Once we’ve eliminated the fascists who keep trying to turn back the clock on our progress, we can go about the business of strengthening our democracy," she wrote on Wednesday. "No matter how desperate the schemes Republicans implement in order to help Donald out in November, they still have to face the music: all of us on election day."
