Arsenal officially finalise 'long-term' deal for 'key' fan-favourite

Arsenal have now reached an agreement on a new long-term deal with one player.

Ben White has signed a new contract with Arsenal, as confirmed by the club’s official website.

White has been in sensational form for Arsenal in recent weeks. The right-back is defensively solid and adds plenty of strength to the Gunners’ rearguard, but also offers a lot going forward too. He played a vital role in the recent hard-fought 2-1 win against Brentford in the Premier League, as he provided the assists for both Declan Rice and Kai Havertz’s goals, sending Arsenal back to the top of the table.

Earlier on in the campaign, the defender struggled to hit his usual levels as he was playing whilst carrying an injury. However, White has looked like a player “reborn” since Arsenal’s mid-season trip to Dubai, where he was clearly given a chance to fully recover physically and recharge his batteries.

White has previously been hailed by former Arsenal teammate Rob Holding for his ability to play through pain and whilst carrying an injury. Clearly, and understandably, though, he is able to take his game to another level when fully fit.

Ben White seals new Arsenal deal

Mikel Arteta has also tasked the 26-year-old with taking up a new tactical function in the side in recent weeks. With Jakub Kiwior impressing as a more orthodox left-back, keeping Oleksandr Zinchenko out of the starting XI, White has been adopting the Ukrainian’s inverted interpretation of the full-back role. Arteta has been told that he has former Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa to thank for White’s tactical flexibility, as he used to have the England man training as a midfielder in his time at Elland Road.

White is a popular figure at the Emirates Stadium. He is a fan-favourite. The Arsenal supporters certainly appreciate White’s mastery of the ‘dark arts’, which are often put to good use in set-piece situations, when he is regularly given the job of unsettling the opposition goalkeeper.

Arsenal fans will be delighted to hear that White has now committed his future to the club. As stated by David Ornstein, reporting on X, “Ben White has committed future to Arsenal by signing new & improved long-term contract…Another key player retained by AFC.”

Arsenal have been pro-active and already have the majority of their top stars tied down to new long-term contracts. This brings stability to the club and helps them in planning for the future, as well as protecting the value of their players. Sealing a new deal with White will provide a major boost.
