‘Loving son’ who died from stab wound in Cambridge is named as two appear in court charged with his murder

Police conducting a murder probe in Cambridge have named a man who died from a stab wound in the early hours of Sunday (10 March) morning as Josh Barr, 31.

Mr Barr, of Victoria Road, Cambridge, has been described as a “loving son” and “ray of sunshine” by his family.

Two people have been charged with his murder.

Police were called by the ambulance service at 5.19am on Sunday with reports of a stabbing in Carlton Way, Arbury.

Mr Barr was found in Ferrars Way and despite the efforts of paramedics was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family have today paid tribute, saying:“Josh was caring, strong and a fighter. Everyone that met him said he had such a kind soul. He was a loving son and was dearly loved by us all. He was a ray of sunshine.”

A post-mortem examination on Wenesday (13 March) afternoon concluded that Mr Barr died from a stab wound to the chest.

Cameron Stokes, 23, of Highfield Close, Dinas Powys, in South Wales, and Tyler Marshall, 19, of no fixed address, have been charged with Mr Barr’s murder.

They appeared at Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court today (14 March) where they were remanded in custody to appear at Cambridge Crown Court tomorrow (15 March).

A third man, aged 21, who was also arrested on suspicion of murder, has been released on police bail.
