Report: How Man City currently feel about Kevin De Bruyne's new injury, as Arsenal clash looms

Manchester City fans expressed their concern on social media on Thursday, as news emerged about another injury for Kevin De Bruyne.

The Belgian maestro missed the first five months of the season after sustaining a serious hamstring injury in the first Premier League match with Burnley at Turf Moor.

This hamstring injury was seemingly always coming, with the player having mentioned he was feeling it in the lead-up to the Champions League final with Inter. Of course, it then snapped against the Italian side, forcing him off midway through the first-half in Istanbul.

Since returning in January, De Bruyne has been brilliant for City but just recently, he was left on the bench for the game with Brentford with a niggle.

Now, there is word of a groin injury for De Bruyne…

Today, Belgium released their latest squad list for their upcoming matches against Ireland and England.

There was some concern with De Bruyne’s name not on the list, and it was then reported by Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur that the 32-year-old had suffered a ‘minor’ groin injury.

Belgium’s manager Domenico Tedesco then stated (as quoted by Terreur): “He’s been playing with a minor groin issue during the last games. Yesterday I spoke to the doctor and Kevin and we decided that the risk is too big. It’s better to give him time to recover well at City and then have him ready for the Euros.”

Later in the day, some information was reported about how City feel about De Bruyne’s latest setback.

The PA News agency (via Waterford News & Star) understands that the problem is ‘not considered too serious by City’ and that they are hopeful that he will be fine to face Arsenal on March 31.

City desperately need De Bruyne fit to face Arsenal

It doesn’t sound like City are massively concerned about De Bruyne’s new injury at this point, but the fanbase will undoubtedly be a bit concerned by the news.

The game with Arsenal at the end of this month is absolutely huge, and the Gunners are a team De Bruyne just loves facing.

He has scored eight goals against the north Londoners – the most goals against any one club in his career to date. He’s also laid on five assists in games against Arsenal.

City would still be favourites to beat Arsenal if De Bruyne was not fit to play. But City really need him available, with Arsenal obviously providing a strong challenge in the Premier League right now.
