Report: Man United left stunned by what Man City have done behind the scenes recently

Behind-the-scenes details have emerged regarding Manchester United’s acquisition of Omar Berrada from Manchester City.

Back in January, it was announced that United had appointed Berrada as their new chief executive, taking him from City where he was their chief football operations officer.

After this move was announced, Pep Guardiola said that Berrada was “an important person” for City and that everyone at the club wishes him well in his new role.

Now though, some behind-the-scenes details have emerged regarding this move and what impact it has had on the relationship between the two Manchester clubs.

According to a recent report from the Daily Mail, United were “pleasantly surprised by City’s cooperative approach when they approached their neighbours about recruiting Berrada before Christmas, while the Moroccan has also been permitted to meet some of his new colleagues at Old Trafford despite being placed on gardening leave by his old club.”

The report also adds that “while Sir Jim Ratcliffe has made clear his desire to knock City ‘off their perch’ he also acknowledges the benefits of Manchester having two strong clubs with good professional relationships.”

While Ratcliffe may enjoy the prospect of seeing City and United have a positive and strong relationship in the boardroom, we feel that supporters of both clubs will only be concerned on how their teams perform on the pitch.

In terms of United’s surprise of how cooperative City were in terms of working out Berrada’s move to Old Trafford, we think that this could be a sign that the Citizens aren’t too concerned by this move.

Moving forward, as long as the Blues can keep beating the Red Devils, stay above them in the Premier League table and keep winning trophies, they shouldn’t be too bothered about what moves United make behind the scenes.
