Traffic held on M20 between Junction 7 and 8 near Maidstone after reports of man 'covered in blood'

Traffic is being held on the M20 amid reports of a man “covered in blood”.

There are two miles of congestion in both directions from Junction 7 for the A249 Maidstone and Junction 8 for the A20 Ashford Road for Leeds Castle.

The road was closed shortly after midday.

Witnesses have posted on social media about seeing a man “covered in blood”.

One tweeted: “An Eastern European guy covered in blood just tried getting in my car saying he had been beaten up.

“He was just casually walking down the middle of the motorway.”

Another added: “Same happened to me. Was very confused as to what was going on but had the foresight to lock all the doors when we saw him approaching.”

National Highways tweeted: “Traffic is currently stopped on the M20 between Junction 7 (Maidstone) and Junction 8 (Hollingbourne) in both directions for an ongoing Kent Police incident.

“There are currently about two miles of congestion on the approach both ways.”
