‘Done well’: BBC pundit says 23-year-old just put in one of his best displays in a Chelsea shirt vs Leicester

It is fair to say that Martin Keown was really impressed with Mykhailo Mudryk’s performance in Chelsea’s 4-2 win against Leicester City.

Mykhailo Mudryk was not able to get his name on the scoresheet, but Keown thought the winger really thrived in the No.10 role, where he played today.

The Arsenal legend praised the 23-year-old while commentating on the FA Cup quarter-final tie for BBC One (17/03/2024 at 14:22).

While Mudryk did not score this afternoon, he did manage to net in Chelsea‘s last Premier League match, a 3-2 victory over Newcastle United.

While the Ukrainian looked bright that night, former Chelsea defender Mario Melchiot still thinks there is something that he really needs to work on.

One of Mykhailo Mudryk’s best performances for Chelsea

According to Keown, Mudryk’s display against Leicester earlier was one of his best performances in a Chelsea shirt.

On the former Shakhtar Donetsk man, the Arsenal icon said: “He’s done well, Mudryk. Probably one of the best performances that I’ve seen him give in a Chelsea shirt.”

Should Mykhailo Mudryk start for Chelsea after the international break?

Chelsea take on Burnley after the latest round of international fixtures. Mudryk has not started too many games lately, but he probably should be included in Mauricio Pochettino‘s first XI for that game.

Again, he impressed in the Newcastle win and put in a similar performance against Leicester.

Raheem Sterling, on the other hand, is not at his sharpest right now, missing a penalty and another great opportunity in his side’s latest outing.

It was a first half to forget, with Chelsea assistant manager Jesus Perez having to put an arm around him at half-time.

Ultimately, Mudryk has probably done enough in these wins against Leicester and Newcastle to start the Blues’ next Premier League fixture, especially when you look at how Sterling performed in the triumph over the former.

After the clash with Burnley, Chelsea welcome rivals Manchester United to Stamford Bridge. They lost 2-1 when the two sides met at Old Trafford earlier in the season.
