Man Utd fans all in agreement over ‘top’ player vs Liverpool in FA Cup, he delivered ‘quite a performance’ at Old Trafford

Manchester United fans have dropped their instant reaction after Amad Diallo’s heroics against Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-final at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Erik ten Hag’s men were fired into the lead in the 10th minute thanks to Scott McTominay, with Manchester United starting off strong against the Reds.

However, United were unable to keep up their momentum and Scott McTominay’s opener was cancelled out by Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister in the 44th minute.

Alexis Mac Allister’s strike took a slight deflection off Kobbie Mainoo, with Andre Onana unable to prevent Liverpool’s first-half equaliser at Old Trafford.

Liverpool built on their momentum and the Reds took the lead before half-time through Mohamed Salah, which left United on the back foot for the second half.

However, Antony came off the bench and produced a superb finish to pull the scores level in the 87th minute, with United forcing the quarter-final tie into extra-time.

Harvey Elliott restored Liverpool’s advantage in the first half of extra time, with United facing another major setback in the thrilling FA Cup tie.

Marcus Rashford, who squandered a clear-cut chance towards the end of regular playing time, made his mark in the second half of extra time by scoring for United.

Diallo’s impact vs Liverpool

Amad Diallo came off the bench and replaced Raphael Varane in the 85th minute, with the Manchester United wonderkid impressing with his superb cameo.

The 21-year-old United winger has struggled to secure regular first-team minutes at Old Trafford after returning from his injury during the pre-season tour last summer.

Diallo’s future at the club was cast in doubt during the January transfer window, but the United star remained at Old Trafford and continued to wait for his opportunity.

The Ivory Coast international made his mark against Liverpool after he dispossessed the ball from Harvey Elliott and released Alejandro Garnacho on the counter.

Alejandro Garnacho charged down the middle before he released the ball back to Diallo, who took it past Conor Bradley before firing past Caoimhin Kelleher.

Despite scoring the winner against Liverpool, Diallo was sent off only a minute later after he picked up a second booking for taking off his shirt during the celebration.

Another added: “That Diallo finish was insane, BTW.”

And a sixth tweeted: “Amad Diallo channelling his inner Cristiano Ronaldo with that celebration after a last-minute winner.”

Somebody else said: “I love you, Amad Diallo, you deserve [a] starting eleven [place] for this club!”
