Report: Premier League manager wants to sign Manchester United player for £15m - if he keeps his job

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire is once again wanted by West Ham United ahead of the summer transfer window.

That is according to The Sun, who claim that David Moyes is once again chasing a deal for Maguire.

We saw West Ham chase a deal for Maguire last summer and it looked like he would be on his way out of Old Trafford.

Maguire rejected the move to East London though, preferring to try and fight for his place in the United side.

The 31-year-old has enjoyed a decent season but questions still surround his long-term future with United expected to target other centre backs this summer.

West Ham United back in for Harry Maguire

It’s suggested that Moyes is ‘planning a new bid’ for Maguire in the hope of convincing him to finally make the move.

Any move for the England defender surely hinges on whether Moyes even stays at West Ham.

The Scot’s contract expires this summer and there have been rumours surrounding a potential replacement in the West Ham dugout.

If Moyes stays, Maguire looks set to be a prime target with the Hammers plotting a £15million offer.

That is nowhere near the money United paid for Maguire back in 2019 but his contract ends in 2025 and taking the cash may appeal.

United will surely be open to a deal – as was the case last summer – but it will be down to Maguire to decide on whether it’s time to go.

United centre back changes surely coming

Whether Maguire stays or goes, changes are surely coming.

Raphael Varane’s future is unclear and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Frenchman move on.

Is Victor Lindelof part of the long-term plans? Do United want to give another deal to veteran centre back Jonny Evans?

These are questions United must find the answers to in the coming months with another left-footed centre back potentially wanted amid Lisandro Martinez’s injuries.

Selling Maguire may bring in crucial funds to rebuild the United back line, but it all hinges on Moyes’ future and Maguire pulling a U-turn on his West Ham stance.
