5 chances created... Manchester United star produces magic moment in win v Liverpool

Manchester United are blessed with a talented core of young players who can drive the team forward in the years to come.

Alejandro Garnacho is a special talent, who is far from perfect right now, but he is exactly where you would want him to be at the age of 19.

The teenager is making an impact on first team games almost every week, with seven goals and four assists this season so far.

He is the only Manchester United player in 2023/24 to be part of every single matchday squad, now a regular starter, rather than just an impact substitute.

Alejandro Garnacho kept his cool

Alejandro Garnacho was not one of Manchester United’s four scorers in the memorable 4-3 win over Liverpool, but he had a massive impact on the game.

It was Garnacho’s shot which forced Kelleher into a save early in the game, which rebounded into Scott McTominay‘s path for a tap-in to an empty net.

And then in the 120th minute, Garnacho led United upfield on a blistering counter-attack, before making the right decision to slip the ball to Amad, who scored the winner.

It demonstrated terrific composure from the teenager, who has just been recalled into the Argentina international squad.

Garnacho’s pace was the perfect weapon to cut through Liverpool late in the game and take advantage of their decision to push men forward in pursuit of a winner.

His late run and pass was a magical moment which will be replayed over and over again, and speaks to his unselfishness, concentration, and quality, at such a key moment late in the game.

Alejandro Garnacho’s numbers

Alejandro Garnacho kept on going, and he created more chances than any Manchester United player.

Garnacho made five key passes, at an astonishing rate of effectiveness, because he only completed 20 passes in total.

Liverpool were able to limit him for large stretches off the match, where he was only able to land one shot at goal, with five shots blocked. This would suggest he needed to pick better times to shoot, when he was in more space. His decision at the end of the game was thankfully the right one.

Garnacho kept on going and ensured Manchester United got the reward at the end, sparking delirious celebrations.
