All the signs suggest Tottenham player Ange Postecoglou called ‘important’ will be sold this summer

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is expected to be sold in this summer’s transfer window.

The Dane is becoming surplus to requirements under Ange Postecoglou in north London.

And it seems as if Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will be moved on in the summer as he searches for regular first team action.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s future

Speaking on his YouTube channel, journalist Alasdair Gold has said the 28-year-old is expected to leave in the coming months.

He said:

Going into the summer, the Dane only has one year remaining on his current deal in north London.

This is after he joined back in 2020 on a five-year deal under the watch of Jose Mourinho for around £15m.

Hojbjerg has been an excellent servant for the club racking up 175 appearances, but it is apparent his time is coming to a conclusion.

Postecoglou’s midfield options

This season, Ange Postecoglou has arrived at Spurs and had a number of options to choose from in midfield.

The likes of Pape Matar Sarr, Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur have all kept the 28-year-old Dane out of the starting XI.

However, Sarr and Bissouma’s displays on the weekend against Fulham may leave Postecoglou with something to think about.

Spurs do not play again until the end of the month as a result of the international break.

But there were some displays which simply were not good enough against the Cottagers, Sarr and Bissouma were two of those.

This could, of course, see Bentancur brought in from the start again. But it has to be said Hojbjerg looked solid when he came on against Marco Silva’s side.

However, it has to be caveated by Fulham already having sealed the points.

Earlier in the season, Postecoglou even hailed Hojbjerg as “very important” during some of their late wins.

Although it does now look like Postecoglou is reluctant to start Hojbjerg with his future seemingly away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
