What Kobbie Mainoo did after Amad Diallo’s match-winner for Man Utd proved his mentality is unrivalled, he oozed class

Kobbie Mainoo oozed pure class with his reaction after fan footage emerged of what the Manchester United star did following Amad Diallo’s sensational winner against Liverpool.

Erik ten Hag’s men will be heading to Wembley next month after Manchester United dumped Liverpool out of the FA Cup quarter-finals in an exhilarating 4-3 win.

Kobbie Mainoo played a starring role in the victory at Old Trafford on Sunday, with the United star impressing with a dominant midfield performance in the first half.

The 18-year-old Red Devils midfielder has had a superb campaign at the club after his prominent emergence in the first team under United manager Erik ten Hag.

Mainoo was withdrawn in the 80th minute and was replaced by Christian Eriksen, with the Stockport-born player forced to watch the rest of the match from the bench.

Only five minutes after Mainoo’s substitution, Amad Diallo came off the bench and replaced veteran defender Raphael Varane as a key tactical change from Ten Hag.

Antony, who also came off the bench for United, found an important late equaliser in regular playing time to send the FA Cup quarter-final clash to extra time.

Mainoo’s reaction to Diallo’s winner

Manchester United and Liverpool ended regular playing time with a 2-2 scoreline before Harvey Elliott put the Reds back in the lead in the first half of extra time.

However, the Red Devils rallied back in the second half of extra time as Marcus Rashford, who missed a clear-cut chance in regular playing time, scored for United.

Amad Diallo then played a key role in the winner for United, with the Red Devils wonderkid dispossessing Harvey Elliott before launching his side’s counterattack.

The 21-year-old Ivory Coast international played the ball to Alejandro Garnacho on the counter before receiving it back during United’s counter from Liverpool’s corner.

Diallo took the ball past Conor Bradley before producing a superb finish to beat Caoimhin Kelleher and seal a 4-3 victory for United in a thrilling FA Cup win.

Fan footage of Diallo’s winner was uploaded on social media platform TikTok, with the Old Trafford faithful erupting into a spine-tingling celebration.

Diallo and his United teammates celebrated in front of the fans, but eagle-eyed supporters also spotted Kobbie Mainoo’s reaction to Diallo’s winner.

Mainoo was the first United player off the bench and sprinted down the sideline to reach Diallo and congratulate his Red Devils teammate on his stunning finish.

Diallo on being sent off

Despite scoring the winner for United against rivals Liverpool, Diallo was sent off only a minute later after he received a second bookable in the FA Cup tie.

The Ivorian forward had been previously booked for preventing Virgil van Dijk from taking a free-kick before referee John Brooks sent him off for taking his shirt off.

Speaking after the match, Diallo admitted that he forgot that he had already received a booking from John Brooks before he took his shirt off in his celebration.

“I forgot the first yellow, so I am very disappointed for that red card,” he said.

“But the most important thing for me is to win, and to do it against a big team like Liverpool is a dream… a big, big moment for me.”
