Report: Rohl now set for Chansiri talks 'this week' to solve one key Sheffield Wednesday matter

Danny Rohl is pencilled in for a meeting with Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri this week.

Since the drama that enfolded surrounding Dejphon Chansiri earlier in the season in which he asked for fans to donate money to pay off his HMRC debts, the Thai businessman has gone rather quiet.

Danny Rohl has mostly been left to his own devices on his quest to keep the Owls in the Championship, bar the sanctioning of four loan arrivals in the January window.

However, the German coach is now scheduled to hold talks with Chansiri as they look to solve one key matter ahead of the final eight games of the campaign.

According to The Star, the pair will meet to discuss adding three of Lee Gregory, Jeff Hendrick, Callum Patterson and Juan Delgado to their squad list.

The Yorkshire outfit registered 22 players by February’s deadline and had left three spaces open in case they decided to add free agents to their roster in the second half of the campaign.

However, Rohl has now confirmed that they won’t be looking to the free agent market in the final two months of the season and could now bring in some of the players that they had left out.

Lee Gregory’s absence came as no surprise as he had come close to joining Derby County in January, while Jeff Hendrick has struggled to earn himself a regular place in the squad since joining on loan from Newcastle United.

Callum Paterson and Juan Delgado were both left out due to injury, but the former is expected to return to the senior team over the next few weeks. However, his Chilean teammate may never ‘play for Wednesday again’.

Who will be newly registered in Sheffield Wednesday’s squad?

It seems pretty obvious that Callum Paterson will be the first name to be registered into the squad, with the 29-year-old starting 17 games before his injury, with his versatility coming in very handy.

Recent injuries to Barry Bannan and Ian Poveda could make Paterson’s comeback even sweeter, while they could also encourage Rohl to bring Hendrick back into the fold.

The loanee has only made 10 appearances this term, but Bannan’s absence could leave Momo Diaby as the club’s only central midfield option.

Delgado’s long-term injury means he is the most likely to be left out, while Gregory could potentially be added – though it still seems unlikely that he will make another appearance for Sheffield Wednesday.
