Capitol-storming former Paul Gosar intern hit with theft of government property charges

Conservative social media influencer Isabella Maria DeLuca was arrested over the weekend in Irvine, California, for her participation in the Jan. 6 attack on Congress.

The warrant, issued by Judge Robin Meriweather, was issued at the end of February, charging DeLuca with "theft of government property and aiding and abetting theft of government property, entering or remaining in restricted buildings or grounds, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly or disruptive conduct in the Capitol Building, and parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol Building."

According to the document filed online, the arresting officer indicated she was arrested on March 15.

The Gold Institute for International Strategy lists a biography on its site for DeLuca, saying she "has interned for Rep. Lee Zeldin in his local office as well as Rep. Paul Gosar on Capitol Hill and can be seen as a contributor on Newsmax and Real America's Voice."

It also lists her as a former "Ambassador to the conservative organization, Turning Point USA, and is a member of the New York Young Republicans Club in New York City."

Photos of DeLuca show her holding up her cell phone, showing rioters entering the windows that had been bashed out at the Capitol. The upper part of the windows, which were arched, were then broken out and DeLuca can be spotted standing partially out of the window. The indictment says her "neck gaiter" can be seen partially blocking her face.

Other photos in the Statement of Facts include her post that she was on a train headed to Washington, D.C.

"Approximately 90 seconds after entering ST-2M, DELUCA passed, and assisted other rioters in passing, a table out of one of the broken windows," the Statement of Facts says.

It also captured a tweet sent from Deluca at "2:55 p.m. EST on January 6, 2021," in which she "replied to a Twitter post saying, 'Fight back or let politicians steal an election? Fight back!'"

"The FBI also lawfully obtained a search warrant for Deluca's Twitter (now X) account on July 13, 2022," one footnote says. "Subscriber records from Twitter indicate that the account with username @IsabellaMDeluca is subscribed to by DELUCA. A further review of DELUCA’s Twitter account revealed that there were no tweets (as opposed to replies and direct messages) between January 3, 2021 and January 10, 2021."

On Jan. 14, 2021, DeLuca stated: “I was there on Jan. 6. I have mixed feelings. People went to the Capitol building because that’s Our House and that’s where we go to take our grievances. People feel, as do I that an election was stolen from them and it was allowed.”

On Jan. 15, 2021, in an Instagram message, DeLuca also "suggested that the former president should declare martial law and overturn the election," the Statement of Facts continues.

“So it talks about how to save the election with all the fraud that’s happened," DeLuca said. "I can see from the notes that he suggests martial law. If Trump declares martial law in 7 states, his campaign allies could take control of the state’s ballots & overturn the results of the election in Trump’s favor. Which would be ideal.”

The Statement of Facts says that she later deleted those comments.
