Arsenal should sign 'really special' West Ham player this summer, he's perfect - opinion

After raiding West Ham United for Declan Rice last summer, Arsenal should be revisiting their London rivals for another signing thus.

It’s certainly interesting to consider who will be Mikel Arteta’s priority targets in the coming window.

Whilst the focus will be on navigating a trip to the Etihad and then a meeting with Harry Kane’s Bayern Munich right now, there will also be one eye on the summer.

It’s long been thought that a striker would be the priority, but perhaps that may now need to wait another year.

Ivan Toney’s stock seems to have slightly fallen since his return, competition could be rife for Victor Osimhen and there must still be doubts over Viktor Gyokeres’ ability in the Premier League.

Therefore, perhaps Arsenal will look to strengthen other areas of their squad until a better opportunity presents itself.

And with that in mind, it could prove an excellent time to revive their summer interest in Mohammed Kudus.

Described as a ‘really special talent’ by teammate Jarrod Bowen, Kudus has already demonstrated his rich ability and potential in England so far.

Arsenal should revive interest in West Ham star Mohammed Kudus this summer

Kudus has played 34 games for the Hammers this season scoring 11 goals and providing four assists.

Six of those goals have come in the Premier League, and the Ghanaian has made an impressive start either side of AFCON.

The £38m West Ham paid for Kudus does now represent a bargain for the winger, who might cost Arsenal almost double that given his long-term contract.

But given Kudus is only 23-years-old, and a player who could properly substitute for both Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka on either side, it could be worth it.

Arsenal might kick themselves now for not signing Kudus ahead of West Ham in the summer, but perhaps they were aware of their FFP limit.

But with news that Emile Smith Rowe could be sold once the season finishes, there’s reason to believe a deal could be afforded now.

Kudus would definitely raise the level of competition in Arteta’s squad, a player who often thrives when facing a low block.

The West Ham man is incredibly versatile across attacking positions too and really could have been useful against FC Porto for Arsenal last week for example.

An expensive deal, yes, but one that Arsenal certainly wouldn’t regret.

That being said, Arsenal may still rue the day they were beaten by Manchester United to one deal.
